Since Tokyo's designation as the host for the 2020 Olympic Games global sport has experienced a series of damaging controversies. As host to 2020 Tokyo needs to insulate itself from these issues while examining its own preparedness for the tourism mega-event. This paper details this in terms of Tokyo's accommodation infrastructure, its human resource capability and its philosophy of hospitality. Despite progress conclusions suggest Tokyo is still lacking in the elements required to be a truly global city.
