The purpose of this study was to compare changes in board velocity, stroke rate, and stroke length during 40m maximal board paddling between elite and sub-elite paddlers. The results of this study indicated that stroke length was a key factor for determining peak board velocity in comparing between elite and sub-elite lifesavers in both paddling techniques. It can be concluded that increasing stroke length is important to improve peak board velocity.
