Allyl isothiocyanate, a pungent ingredient of wasabi and mustard oil, impairs gastric paracellular barrier in primary cultures from the rat stomach via TRPA1-independet pathway
Tashima K, Kabashima M, Matsumoto K, Yano S, Hagen SJ, Horie S.
It is suggested that allyl-isothiocyanate breaks gastric paracellular barrier via TRPA1-independent pathway, although capsaicin is not affected gastric paracellular barrier in rats. In addition, we demonstrate a unique technique to grow isolated cells from rat stomachs with a high TER.
