Odor from the exudate produced by malignant fungating wounds (MFW) associated with breast cancer can affects the quality of life, however little is unknown about the contents of metabolites produced by bacteria. The organic acids in the exudate from breast cancer patiets was analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography and compared between odor and non-odor groups. we found two kinds of specific organic acids were commonly detected in those patients. In addition, the propionic acid-like organic acid was found which would be a potential target of nursing intervention to reduce the odor derived from MFW. 調査補助
