Summary
A La-based glass shows enhanced toughness at 77 K. Glass reinforced with Ti retains plasticity at 77 K. No ductile-brittle transition seen in glass and Ti particles. Composite plasticity is limited only by interfacial failure. Unusual combination of large plasticity and quasi-cleavage fracture.
