As during the first years of the 21st century the Yasukuni issue spurred again huge domestic and international problems, most academic studies examined the issue from a political perspective. Unlike most of these studies, I explored in my presentation the religious dimension of the issue and look over the new elements brought into the dynamics of it. This was a worthwhile analysis, since during the recent period of the Yasukuni debate, many of these religiously significant elements caught the attention of the domestic and international public and media and were dramatically ritualized by the performances of different interest groups.
