When contemplating world peace, one big misconception is that it is obtained through some sort of external change (Tolle, 2001). We become lost in the thinking that environmental and diplomatic policy changes will lead to a more peaceful world. Our actions and thoughts are too often affected by what is going on around us. In doing so, both personal and social issues become more complex rather than reaching some sort of resolution. World peace comes from a place within yourself, and nothing can give it to you except yourself in this very moment (Mpouma, 2008). Peace is considered to be soomething that can be achieved, rather than something that is here at this very moment. It exists wholly in each of us. By transcending perceived notions of who we are, self-realization occurs, anmd peace on a global scale can be identified.
