英文。日露戦争当時に欧米で喧伝された「黄禍」論に対して、日本国内ではどのような反応があったか、また海外において、在外日本人がどのような反論を行ったかを、当時の新聞・雑誌を一次資料として用いて明らかにした。日本側の反論は、文明国としての日本を強調するものであったが、反論のなかにはナショナリズムの萌芽も見られた。
