Relationship between methylation of adenine near the 3' end of 16-S ribosomal RNA and the activity of 30-S ribosomal subunits

30Sリボソームサブユニット活性に対するカスガマイシン感受性と16S rRNAの3'末端近傍アデニンのメチル化との関係を、カスガマイシン耐性バクテリア(TPR-201)の30Sサブユニットを使用して研究した。その結果、16S rRNAの3'末端近くのアデニンメチル化により、S1が欠乏した30Sサブユニットへの蛋白質S1の結合が促進され、ポリペプチド合成活性の増加をさせることが示唆された。
