14員環マクロライド抗生物質クラリスロマイシンは主にN-脱メチル体(M1)および14位水酸化体(M5)が代謝物として生成することが知られている。これら2つの代謝経路を有する化合物に対して基質消失による分子種推定を試みた。基質消失から推定された分子種はCYP3A4であり、2代謝経路において関与する代謝分子種と一致した。単一酵素が代謝に関与する場合の本法の有用性が確認された。
