マウス下部消化管において、バニロイド受容体TRPV1発現神経には神経伝達ペプチドであるカルシトニン遺伝子関連ペプチド、サブスタンスP、そして、ニューロキニンAが含有されていた。また、神経型一酸化窒素合成酵素を含むTRPV1神経も観察された。
