2-substituted naphtho[2,3-b]furan-4,9-dione類が細胞毒性活性を有することは知られている。そこで33種類の誘導体を合成しその活性をKB cell culture法で調査した。 その結果細胞毒性発現にはnaphtho[2,3-b]furan-4,9-dione骨格が必須なこと、 2-Formylnaphtho[2,3-b]furan-4,9-dione が強い活性を示すことを明らかにした
