Summary

Due to the 2020 pandemic, many schools were forced to implement remote or online learning programs in order to continue educational operations. Looking at how technology, pedagogy, and evaluation of remote and online language learning programs have been addressed in the past, the developers were able to take into consideration the roles of the teachers. Specifically, what support system would be needed to best help the students succeed in such a program. Overall goals of the program dealt mainly with how to keep the original goals of language courses in place while spending minimal time on-campus or in face-to-face interaction. There were several limitations to the program, specifically how to deliver and receive work done by the students, and the technology itself that was used. Evaluation of the program was ongoing throughout the program, with the biggest criticism being the method as to how work was submitted (email). Overall, feedback was favorable among students, showing strong support for the implementation of on-demand assignments that allowed them to complete assignments according to their own schedules. It was determined that the most important need was the implementation of a learning management system.
