授業の到達目標及びテーマ
1) Students will be introduced to French language, French culture, and the French-speaking world.
2) Students will develop an understanding of proper greetings in French and be able to say their name, age, where they live, their date of birth. They will be able talk about their family, discuss their daily routines
3) Students will develop knowledge of major tourist attractions and landmarks in France and regions of France (metropolitan and overseas), including - but not limited to - capital cities, population, food specialities. They will learn and ask and tell directions.
4) Students will develop some knowledge of regular verbs and some irregular verbs in the present and past tenses to be able to express original thoughts in simple French.
授業の概要
It is a beginner’s class where students will learn about French language, French culture, and the French-speaking world. Some prior knowledge of the language is desirable but not mandatory. As they develop intrinsic motivation, students are expected to meet the set learning outcomes. Students are also encouraged to develop resilience and take ownership of their learning and work independently when necessary.

Content:
Introduction to the resources and textbook Spirale and Quarter 1 Units 1 and 2 (pages 1 to 40). Getting to know the students and their interests. Explanation of course outline, resources, learning expectations and outcomes, assessment items, ownership of learning. Identification of students` existing proficiency level and prior knowledge in all learning strands (speaking, listening, reading, and writing).

試験及び成績評価
Students not meeting the minimum of 70% attendance grade will get a Z.
Students need to score 60% or more to pass the course.

This course is based on a system of continuous assessment. Students will have to submit a Final Report at the end of the course. There is no exam for this course.

3 writing tests of 10% each

1 Final Report counting for 10%,
Manaba Homework: 20% (2 Manaba tasks on Weeks 1 to 6 and 3 Manaba tasks for Week 7 for a total of 15 tasks: 20 points (1.5 pt for each task))
Homework and participation: 10%

Should a student get a F at the end of the course, there may be a chance to pass the course in the form of a written work as make-up report at a time decided by the teacher.
