授業の到達目標及びテーマ
The main objectives of this course are:
1. to expose students to the choices of short and long-term programs offered at our sister institutions
2. to better prepare students for their long-term study abroad programs
3. to share the experience of students who have been abroad
4. to reflect upon risk management
5. to reflect upon the value of receiving education abroad



授業の概要
In this course students will:
1. take notes and ask questions on a weekly basis (13 attendance sheets x 5 points=65)
2. attend presentations by students who have studied at various sister universities abroad
3. discuss topics such as culture shock, problem solving, decision making

1. JIU's sister institutions around the world: qualifications, requirements and fees
2. " Should I study English or study in English?"
3. Dormitory or homestay family?

1. Doing research about how to choose a university abroad. Considering location, fees, language, size of university, size of classes, accommodation arrangements etc. What are the most important factors for you?

Choose two universities you are interested in and start comparing them considering the points that were discussed in class. Submit your chart of comparisons and be ready to share it with the class in the following class.

Discussion: Living in a dormitory compared to living with a homestay family

1. Introduce cases of JIU students who had problems with both their host families and dormitories. Explain how they dealt with such problems.
2. Explain what universities have the homestay option.
3. After this discussion, reflect upon the choices of institutions you have made so far
