Although foreigners have studied and analyzed many unique aspects of Japanese culture since the 16th century, it is still difficult for them to understand how the Japanese think and act. This course will explore some of the major Japanese thoughts from the pre-modern as well as modern periods and examine characteristic behaviors of the contemporary Japanese people.

内容：This class employs a combination of lectures, discussions, outside activities, and student presentations to help students acquire a multi-dimensional embodied knowledge on the topic. In addition, reading assignments are distributed a week before the class, and videos are shown for further understanding.
