授業の到達目標及びテーマ
This is the second part of Basic Writing Skills and is a required course for first year students in the Department of International Exchange Studies. It covers the fundamental skills of sentence structure, paragraphs, and the writing process. During the semester, students will further develop the portfolio of written work they started in the previous quarter and submit it at the end of the quarter as a course requirement.
授業の概要
Students need to take and pass the Basic Writing Skills 1 course first in order to register for this class. In each class students will study an aspect of writing from the class textbook, then practice the skills learned through short writings. In addition, the students will complete in-class writing assignments related to their textbook assignments. At the end of the course, students will submit a complete portfolio of their work.

About Lesson Preview and Review:
As part of this course, students are expected to preview upcoming class content, as well as to review the content of the previous classes. In addition to this, teachers will assign, preview and review activities as part of the regular homework assignments. Assessment of how fully students are previewing and reviewing the lesson content, as well as how successfully they have completed the preview and review activities assigned, is included in the Homework and Class Participation section of the assessment guidelines set out below. Preview and review of course content is an essential aspect of language learning, therefore, in order to pass this course and achieve a good passing grade, please ensure that you do this to the best of your abilities.

The textbook for Basic Writing Skills A is Trio Writing 1 (red coloring). Students must purchase their own copy of this textbook by the second class meeting. The textbook is available in the JIU bookstore.
