The goal of this course is to build on the principles of teaching a foreign language to young learners (kindergarten to elementary school) from the Spring semester and continue to apply what students have learned to teach at a local elementary school.

In this course students will experience first hand the steps of planning, preparing, and presenting English lessons to children. Students will work in teams to decide age appropriate lesson content, research activities, and prepare classroom materials for use at elementary school. During the practicum day students will teach tose lessons, then feedback will be given the following week.
For second year students, in their next to last lesson, SDGs as a whole will be introduced, along with a few vocabulary words/situations for many of the Goals. In the following 2nd year lesson, their last lesson, ONE of the previous Goals will be chosen and taught in detail. You need a minimum TOEIC score of 500 to teach at the elementary school. Priority will be given to students in the jidoeigo or kyoshokukate programs. NOTE: The actual schedule of visits to the elementary school may vary depending on the schedule and needs of the school. Students will be informed as soon as the instructor is informed. Pedagogical theory and practice may also vary to a slight degree to accommodate. 授業計画

試験及び成績評価
The course will be assessed on class commitment, effort, and team cooperation, as well as a final lesson plan.
Students will be assessed on an ongoing basis during the semester according to the following criteria: Classroom Observations: 25% Lesson Self-reflection and Peer Assessment Reports: 20% Mid-term Individual Lesson Plan: 20% Final Individual Lesson Plan: 20% Class Participation: 15% PLEASE NOTE that due to the School Festival, elementary school schedule and JIU schedule that practicum dates may vary slightly. PDF readings, video assignments and theory lessons may be added or rescheduled as necessary to accommodate schedule changes. 課題(試験やレポート等)に対するフィードバック
