1. Have small group discussions for an extended time (30 minutes).
2. Manage a group discussion with no assigned leader. 3. Interact with and use academic and news articles. 4. Use new vocabulary. 5. Discuss information you find on the internet. 授業の概要
ESP D is a continuation of ESP C and is a speaking and discussion class organized around three units. Each unit has articles designed to develop your interest, vocabulary, and knowledge of a topic. You will do homework assignments to prepare for group discussions and activities. In class you will prepare for and participate in discussions on the topic. In addition, for each unit you will complete individual research and discuss this research with your classmates.

試験及び成績評価
1.) Quizzes (5x3%)15%
There will be quizzes based on Article A and Article B homework. These quizzes will include vocabulary, comprehension, and discussion question writing components. 2.) Internet Research (3x5% & 3x5%) 30% You will be asked to research international articles related to the topic. You will have a preparation portion and an in-class activity. The preparation should be submitted even if you miss class. 3.) Graded Discussions (3x5% & 3x10%) 45% There will be three graded discussions where you share information about Article C and have a general discussion about Articles A, B, & C as well as your Internet Research Article. You will have a preparation portion and an in-class activity. The preparation should be submitted even if you miss class. 4.) Active participation is an important part of this course. Your participation grade is based on your attendance (20%) and behavior in class (80%). Unexcused absences will result in a lower participation grade. Your teacher will grade your in-class behavior based on the scale below.
