We synthesized various 1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium (MPP+) derivatives and examined their structural relationships in respiratory chain inhibitory activity using isolated mitochondria. From this study, it was clarified that MPP+ analogues have both electron transfer inhibitory effect and active oxygen production enhancing effect. |
