Summary

The focus of this paper is to report on how the implementation of a software-based class for repeater students has evolved since its inception. The paper begins with a review of the program, the rationale behind adopting a CALL program, its goals, and the variables involved with its implementation. The writers then focus on the elements involved in implementing the program. The writers state that the chosen software offers the best combination of content, assessment, and ease of administration and assessment. Students are required to complete a set number of study hours, study the material with a specified percentage of completion, and pass any tests by hitting a predetermined score. The current state of the program is described, starting with the set up procedures involved, particularly in the placement of students within the software. Program management mainly involves keeping track of students who are taking multiple credits in different classes so they do not study the same material in two classes. Providing study sheets for students help them to keep track of their progress and attendance. The paper concludes with a brief look at the future of the program and how the program is to be managed as established teachers leave and new teachers enter. The success of the program is believed to stem from a combination of teamwork between teachers and the university administration.
