要支援発生率の違う2つの地域におけるソーシャルキャピタルを比較し，ソーシャルキャピタルが要支援者発生率に与える影響を検討した。その結果，要支援者発生率の高い地域は低い地域と比較し，友人との交流頻度が有意に低く，地縁組織の活動へ参加していない者が有意に多かった。
