Even though responses to several oil developments by two different Alaska Natives societies, the Gwich'in and the Kaktovikmiut, seems contrastive, all of their claims were aiming for (re-)acquisition of the right to self-determination and to control their own natural/social situation. They are claiming that they have a right to choose their own future.
