シンシア・オジックは、ナチスの強制収容所での出来事を扱った短編「ショールの女」を創作し物議を醸した。強制収容所の体験がない者が強制収容所での生活をフィクション形式で描いたこと、描写において美的な比喩表現を用いたことが、主たる論議の的であった。本稿では、上記二点に対する批判を踏まえた上で、「ショールの女」における比喩表現の意義を考察した。
